U.S. tractor sales down, Canadian tractor sales up significantly: Report

July 12, 2024  by Manure Manager

New data from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) shows that U.S. tractor sales are down year-over-year for June 2024.

Two-wheel drive tractors were down 16.3 percent for the month compared to 2023. Four-wheel drive tractors fell, but not nearly as much, down 1.3 percent. AEM also tracks combine sales, which declined as well, finishing the month 31 percent below June 2023 levels.

This follows the same trend displayed in May, according to AEM SVP Curt Blades, who referenced general market slowness following a “robust five years of sales.”

“The challenges facing the subcompact tractor market illustrate why the passage of a strong farm bill is so needed to lift rural America and our farmers and growers,” Blades said in a statement.

However, in Canada, sales of four-wheel drive tractors grew by 10.6 percent for the month. Combines were also up double-digits, up 13.6 percent.
